Victorian Labor has been in government for 14 of the last 18 years and yet James Merlino is still making excuses for the latest figures showing school students’ performances are going backwards.
Despite billions of dollars in additional funding for schools, standards and outcomes at our schools are going backwards.
A report in The Age this morning also revealed that parents' trust in the state school system has taken a hit, with just 51.7% reporting high levels of confidence in the sector.
The report also showed that of the nine targets that have reported data for 2016 and 2017, only two areas improved.
