The Liberal Nationals are committed to investing in schools to ease the local population squeeze – as well as planning for schools’ future needs.
That’s why an elected Liberal Nationals Government will commit $900,000 to redevelop the former church on the grounds of Albert Park Primary School, as planned by the school community.
An elected Liberal Nationals Government will also allocate an additional $50,000 towards a site master plan so Albert Park Primary School can develop a proper plan for its future, rather than continuing a cycle of constant and ad hoc change.
With increasing enrolments at Albert Park Primary, a number of temporary measures have been put in place to squeeze in growing numbers of students. These include the ‘pop-up park’ next to the school; triple storey portables and, at one stage, closing the library and using it for teaching space.
Only the Liberal Nationals will get back in control of population growth and back Albert Park Primary School so that local students can get the very best education.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Education, Tim Smith:
“Out of control population growth caused by the Andrews Labor Government’s lack of planning is placing enormous pressure on our schools.
Labor has been in government for 15 of the last 19 years, and has failed to plan for Albert Park Primary’s growth.
Only the Liberal Nationals will get back in control of education and provide this basic infrastructure to Albert Park Primary School.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Albert Park, Andrew Bond:
“The school community has been asking for a master plan and we’ve listened.
Albert Park Primary is a great local school, and its staff want to be teaching - not dealing with property management.”
