Media Release - Liberal Nationals to fund $1 million for upgrades at Glenferrie Primary School

   Thursday, 8 November 2018

The Liberal Nationals are committed to investing in schools to ease the local population squeeze – as well as planning for schools’ future needs.

That’s why an elected Liberal Nationals Government will fund a $1 million upgrade to of facilities for students and teachers at Glenferrie Primary School.

The school was built in 1881 and the campus is still home to the original caretakers’ cottage. This cottage is of great historical significance and is in desperate need of upgrades and maintenance to retain its historical splendour.

The school also requires a great deal of landscaping works and these funds would go towards making the school a beautiful place to learn and play.

The Liberal Nationals will get back in control of education and support Glenferrie Primary School and provide much needed funding to schools that have been neglected by the Labor Government.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Education, Tim Smith:

“Labor has been in government for 15 of the last 19 years. Glenferrie Primary is a fantastic local school that has been once again been ignored by James Merlino and Daniel Andrews. This is further proof that the so called ‘education state’ slogan isn’t worth the numberplates it’s written on.

Only the Liberal Nationals have a plan to get back in control of the population squeeze and give parent’s the choice and children the best opportunities in their education.”

Comments attributable to Member for Hawthorn, John Pesutto:

“Schools in the Hawthorn electorate have been neglected by the Andrews Labor Government.

Glenferrie Primary School has been calling out for support and I am proud to say that a Matthew Guy led Government will support the students, teachers and parents of Glenferrie Primary.

I am standing up for the teachers and students in Hawthorn. The choice at the next election is clear: being ignored by Daniel Andrews and Labor or an elected Liberal nationals Government who will properly fund schools in the area.”
