Vale Claude Ullin AM - Members Statement

   Wednesday, 6 September 2017

Mr T. SMITH (Kew) — I rise to mourn the loss of two dear friends of mine who passed away recently, the first being Claude Ullin, AM. Claude was a councillor at the cities of Malvern and Stonnington for many years. Claude was first elected as the mayor of Malvern in 1987 and served as the mayor of Stonnington on no less than five occasions. Claude was a dear friend and mentor of mine when I was first elected to the City of Stonnington in 2008, and Claude’s passion was for his local community and the arts, particularly Aboriginal art — and he had an art gallery on High Street, Armadale for many years. He was also a passionate advocate for Caulfield Grammar School, Lauriston Girls School and indeed for the Richmond Football Club, and he served the board of Richmond many years ago. I am sure that Claude will be looking down on the finals series to come and hoping that Richmond does as well as it possibly can.
